All of the Gringegalgona Merino Wool is branded with JS The Gums. This has been the way since the beginning, and identifies the main property and person that started this wool enterprise, John Silcock.

After painstakingly riding the country in search of the ideal wool growing patch, John purchased The Gums and in 1946 wool growing commenced.

In addition to the wool being branded JS The Gums. The merino stud was formed in 1949 and also named The Gums, renamed Galgona, and finally after receiving permission from the Victorian Merino board became the Gringegalgona Merino Stud.
